Art by Accident...

To those that always define art with terms that rule out any event or creation that takes place mostly or entirely by accident…

No artist could have possibly planned or executed the 29,000 rubber duckies circling our globe via oceanic current as well as the shipping accident did. It has captured the public imagination of the world and even begun to inspire generations, as they are several children’s books on the subject already. Things only great art can and ought do.

Interestingly, had it been “planned”, that artist would either be instantly world famous, or instantly in jail for pollution. Wonder which would have happened?

Another interesting question. Will these ugly ducklings, as they are found, have more or less value than in their original form? Is there a market for this incident of accidental art?
